Well, in the passage, All Summer In A Day, and, Raymond s Run, the main protagonists Margot and Raymond are like that. Margot was an earthling on the planet of Venus and Raymond was born with a disability. The situation that they are in is somewhat similar. In both of the novels, the protagonists are bullied because they are both different, but the outcomes of bullying in each of the story are different. For example on page 3 of the text, the author stated, â€Å"And then, of course, the biggest crime of all was that she had come here only five years ago from earth, and she remembered the sun and the way the sun was and the sky was when she was four in Ohio.† This proves why the children in her class bully her because they are jealous that she got to see the sun a bunch of times and that is the reason they bully her. Raymond in the story, â€Å"Raymond’s Run,† is also a victim of bullying. He is bullied because he has a disability which people call, â€Å"The pumpkin head,† because he is mentally disabled and has a big head because of it. For instance, the author stated on page 25, the author stated, â€Å"I never walk if I can trot, and shame on Raymond if he can’t keep up. But of course he does, cause if he hangs back someone’s liable to walk up to him and get smart, or take his allowance from him, or ask where he got the big pumpkin head.† This means that people bully him when he is alone to make fun of him and feel better because of it. Although the protagonists from each story get bullied, the results of the bullying differ in some ways. Certain laws need to be revamped since this is clearly now a safe way to transport passengers, especially after midnight, when most accidents tend to occur. Analysis/Conclusion With properly reading the statements from both Susie Marks and Officer Ruthless, It Is clear that even though the Officer had told all the parties involved with Susie to leave, they choose to do other activities not relating to the park. In this report, we will analyze six aspects so as to come up with a concrete report. Cyberbullying emerged since individuals were able to access information relating to other people via an electronic form. Thus, bullying has been occurring in the past. The story in this report relates to a victim whose personal information has been accessed without his consent (Grummit, 2007). Through this access, personal information and confidential data have landed into a stake of other individuals who have been doing cyberbullying. This victim is so worried about his confidential data that seem to be jeopardized. Consequently, the main theme, in this case, involves cases where confidential information and data of the victim have been compromised. This form of harassment can be identified by an intent to harm and repeated behavior. Many cases have been reported in the media and different authors have written articles on the same. Some of these cases include the Ryan and Halligan Case (1989-2003), the Megan Meier Case (1992-2006), the cases of Jessica Logan (1990-2008) and Hope Witsell (1996-2009). We can also consider the Tyler Clement Case (1991-2010) and the Amanda Todd Case (1996-2012). There are many cases that have not been recorded in the media. Scope In this section, we consider several factors that revolve around the story. These factors include a qualitative factor, locale factor, diversity factor and perspective factor. We focus on analyzing each factor so as to have a clear understanding of the story. Perspective factor This factor considers cyberbullying as an advanced form of bullying where parties involved do not meet face to face unlike the traditional form of bullying. In this perspective, it is performed via cyberspace. This involves the use of internet and phones to bully individuals. This factor can be drawn from the case of Amada Wood of 1996 to 2012 (Rothfuss, 2008). According to this case, Amanda started to use video chat so that she could meet new friends online. In this case, a stranger asked Amanda to post a photo of her breasts on camera. Later on, the stranger used this photo to blackmail Amanda. Finally, the photo started circulating in many social networks. Therefore, a different perspective has been applied by strangers to expose confidential details concerning people. Quantitative factor This factor indicates that majority of young teenagers all over the globe have their personal phone. This implies that many of these teens can access online services on daily basis. They can access social media and social networking online. There are many platforms of social networking that expose individuals. According to statistics, millions of people are able to connect to online social networking on daily basis. This is just a proportion of the number of victims exposed. In addition, quantitative factor provides numerical outcomes from a judgment that can be measured. Therefore, a quantitative study can be conducted so as to determine the level of bullying in the population. This form of bullying affect both genders. For example, in 2010, it was recorded among 4,400 students (Klosterboer, 2011). The quantitative data indicate the level of technology used by victims, the level of victimization, offending among other aspects that occurred in 2010. However, some of our policy changers accept it. They argue that freedom of speech can correspond to freedom of harm. Politicians with ideological differences would accept it if used against their rivals in politics. Psychological Again, it affects victims psychologically due to stigmatization and victimization. Therefore, it is very important to educate people on effects. Many people have committed suicide. Majority of suicidal deaths occur in young teenagers who may not have the courage to face consequences (Kowalski, Limber Agatston, 2012). In this section, we analyze the gathering and action of contrary forces that as applicable in the story. The recent statistic indicates that 5% self-harm is reported. Again, 3% of victims attempt suicide and 28% of teenagers have reported cases on Twitter (Patchin Hinduja, 2012). Moreover, the statistics show that over 20% of children and teenagers indicate fear of cyber bullies thus affecting their education. Other forces that expose people should be considered so as to reduce cases that affect people of all ages. Futures This is the last aspects to be considered in the story. Corbusier essays Corbusier, like many other architects of his time, had an extreme desire to create a perfect architecture. He claims that the one example of perfect architecture has been built, but it was built 2400 years ago: The Parthenon. He felt that if every building was evolved, designed, and constructed in such a way as the automobile was, that all buildings would resemble the Parthenon in esthetics and functionality. Although most of the pictures that Corbusier used in this chapter were without in-depth descriptions, the message he was trying to convey was quite evident. For the most part, the photos were in order of oldest to newest, showing the changes from each period. Many of the cars had a similar appearance, but the reason for that is because thats what the standard of the time called for. Each year something would change, but once one manufacturer altered their design, all the other followed. This is exactly why he feels that we need to develop a standard in architecture. All car manufacturers compete against each other in order to see who can construct the best vehicle. They are able to do this because they set a standard very early in the existence of the automobile. If architects and contractors were able to set a standard for building types, they would be able to work towards perfection. They would have a base that they could work off of, allowing them to pay much more attention to detail, as seen in the Parthenon, as well as in high-end sports and luxury cars. He wants for people to pay as much attention to buildings and their ornament as they do with the construction and precision of automobiles and the components that they are comprised of. As the Prime Meridian is an artificial line, this point has no true significance. 4) Africa is also the second most populous continent on Earth, with about 1.256 billion people (2017). Africas population is growing faster than Asias population (4.5 billion), but Africa will not catch up to Asias population in the foreseeable future. For an example of Africas growth, Nigeria, currently, the worlds seventh most populous country on Earth, is expected to become the third most populous country by 2050. Africa is expected to grow to 2.5 billion people by 2050. Nine of the 10 highest total fertility rates on Earth are African countries, with Niger topping the list (6.49 births per woman as of 2017). 5) In addition to its high population growth rate, Africa also has the worlds lowest life expectancies. The average life expectancy for citizens of Africa is 61 years for males and 64 years for females, though its a little lower in some regions of Africa and higher in northern Africa (closer to the global average). The continent is home to the worlds highest rates of HIV/AIDS; more than two-thirds of all people infected are in Africa. Better treatment for HIV/AIDS is directly related to average life expectancy rising back to 1990 levels in southern Africa by 2020. 6) With the possible exceptions of Ethiopia and Liberia, all of Africa was colonized by non-African countries. The United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Germany, and Portugal all claimed to rule parts of Africa without the consent of the local population. In 1884–1885 the Berlin Conference was held among these powers to divide up the continent among the non-African powers. Over the following decades, and especially after World War II, African countries gradually regained their independence with the borders as established by the colonial powers. These borders, established without regard to local cultures, have caused numerous problems in Africa. Today, only a few islands and a very small territory on the Moroccan coast (which belongs to Spain) remain as territories of non-African countries. 7) With 196 independent countries on Earth, Africa is home to more than a quarter of these countries. There are 54 fully independent countries on mainland Africa and its surrounding islands. All 54 countries are members of the United Nations. Every country is a member of the African Union, including Morocco, which rejoined in 2017. 8) Africa is fairly non-urbanized. Only 43 percent of Africas population lives in urban areas. Africa is home to only a few megacities with a population greater than 10 million: Cairo, Egypt; Lagos, Nigeria; and Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Cairo and Lagos urban areas are around 20 million, and Kinshasa has about 13 million residents. 9) Mt. Kilimanjaro is the highest point in Africa. Located in Tanzania near the Kenyan border, this dormant volcano rises to an elevation of 19,341 feet (5,895 meters). Mt. Kilimanjaro is the location of Africas only glacier, although scientists predict that the ice on the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro will disappear by the 2030s due to global warming. 10) While the Sahara Desert is not the largest nor the driest desert on Earth, it is the most notable. Creon and Antigone – Victims of Fate Essay Sophocles put a lot of layers of meaning in his Creon and Antigone. For ancient Greeks these great tragedies were not only an entertainment, but they also possessed a lot of philosophical meaning which made people think about many different problems. When reading Sophocles’ play Antigone we get into a difficult life situation together with main characters, think about their choices and possible consequences of their mistakes. We can see two different systems of beliefs, two different worlds presented by two main characters Creon and Antigone. Creon is a carrier of the state power; he expresses obedience to his fate and obedience to the state laws. He is driven by the burden of responsibilities put on him by his high position. We see that he is ready to forget about his feelings and emotions in order to perform his duties. â€Å"Kings, my girl, have other things to do than to surrender themselves to their private feelings† he says to Antigone during their talk (Sophocles 42). He can not influence his destiny and it seems that everything is predetermined for him. Antigone is a complete antipode of Creon. She is lively, impulsive, enthusiastic and counts on her feelings and emotions. She can break the limits of the state laws and even does not feel guilty for that. â€Å"I didn’t say â€Å"yes†. I can say no to anything I think vile, and I don’t have to count the cost. But because you said yes, all that you can do, for all your crown and trappings, and your guards- all that you can do is to have me killed† (Sophocles 45). She is driven by completely different motives and her inner truth is more important to her than formal laws and regulations. She makes decisions, which determine her fate. She influences her own life and people around her. Antigone seems free and determine. She makes her decisions and is ready to take responsibility for them. We can find a lot of things, which unite them if we look deeper than just on the surface of the play. Creon and Antigone do not seem so different if we study their personalities better. They both are stubborn; they both are directed by their goals and do not want to step aside. They have different values and look for different things in life but both are ready to sacrifice their lives for the sake of these values. Creon recognizes himself in young and passionate Antigone. â€Å"Don’t think me fatuous if I say that I understand you; and that at your age I should have done the same thing. A moment ago, when we were quarreling, you said I was drinking in your words. I was. But it wasn’t you I was listening to; it was a lad named Creon†¦he was thin and pale, as you are. His mind too was filled with thoughts of self-sacrifice† (Sophocles 50). He knows that they are alike, were alike if to be precise. But the burden of state responsibilities has changed his thoughts and deadened his feelings. His ideals were replaced by the obedience to laws and higher power. Like in the most Greek tragedies Creon is dependant on the will of whimsical gods and has little choice. The only his choice is whether to follow his destination or not. Creon makes his choice and obediently follows his fate. Antigone challenges not only social norms, but also her own destiny and will of gods. Antigone easily breaks with her beloved sister when she refuses to help her. She does not forgive her even when Ismene comes to prison and wants to share Antigone’s guilt. The same thing does Creon, when refuses to listen to the advice of his old and loyal friend Polyneices. Both, Antigone and Creon could sacrifice their dear people and just forget about them in the fight for their ideals. Money and Matrimony in Vanity Fair      In his novel Vanity Fair, William Thackeray exposes and examines the vanities of 19th century England. His characters pursue wealth, power, and social standing, often through marriage or matrimony. The present essay looks at Thackeray's use of the institution of marriage in Vanity Fair to comment on how these vanities often come at the expense of the true emotions of passion, devotion, and love. Parental Ambitions In Vanity Fair, money is central to nearly all of the characters' relationships. Thackeray connects England's merchant families, the lesser nobility, and the high aristocracy through money and matrimony, and parents are frequently the chief negotiators in these business transactions. Mr. Osborne is perhaps the novel's most avaricious parent; money and social eminence are all-important to Mr. Osborne, and he is willing to sacrifice his children's happiness to connect his family name with these vanities. He forbids his daughter Jane to marry an artist with whom she has fallen in love with, swearing to her "that she should not have a shilling of his money if she made a match without his concurrence" (p416). For Mr. Osborne love has little to do with matrimony, and marriage is simply a transaction that should increase family wealth and prestige. This concept was by no means uncommon during the 19th century: the rise of industrialism and colonialism meant an influx of wealth into England, and marriage was seen by many as a way of either rising in station or cementing business ties. This latter theme is seen in Mr. Osborne's interference in his son George's relationship with Amelia. Their courtship is arranged, the "two young people [having] been bred up by their parents" (p38) ... ...und them, and not look in. She eluded them, and despised them --- or at least she was committed to the other path from which retreat was now impossible. (p410-11) Thackeray points out that Becky could have led a simple, happy life, but for her relentless desire to achieve wealth and social status. She never comes to this realization, however, and through Rebecca the author shows us how our desires for the vanities can blind us to more truer, simpler emotions. Conclusion The marriages and mà ©salliances of the characters in Vanity Fair show us the folly and futility of chasing wealth, power, and social eminence at the expense of love and passion. Literature Review on Break Up Strategies

Ending any kind of relationship is found to become a traumatic experience to both parties involved. This could include a romantic relationship, friendship and even business partnerships. All relationships involve strong interpersonal communication skills that would allow the parties involved to cope and eventually heal emotionally. There are five phases in breaking up from a relationship. Duck (as qtd in Dickson, Saunders, and Stringer, 1994 & â€Å"Interpersonal Communication,† para 18-22) identified the break up model to have the breakdown phase, intrapsychic phase, dyadic phase, social phase, and grave dressing phase.However, any break-up solution would not work successfully unless the three factors in the relationship are identified, namely – the high level of satisfaction with the relationship, the acknowledgment of both parties of the time and effort that has gone into building it, and the absence of new compensatory attachments. (Dickson et al, 2004) According to Dr. Margaret Paul, people try their best to end relationships gracefully such that the society perceives it as a reflection of their worth when someone does not want to be with them any longer (â€Å"Ending Relationships,† para 1).But ending relationships gracefully will always have to go through hurting the other person’s feelings. A person may meet wonderful people though they may not feel any connection to them or a single individual alone. And the only way that person can end that relationship is telling the other the truth. There are on the other hand various strategies in breaking up from a relationship as identified by Baxter (1982, 1984 qtd in â€Å"Interpersonal Communication,† para 12-17) as either unilateral or bilateral and indirect or direct.Some of these strategies identified were avoidance, Pseudo de-escalation, cost escalation, fade-way, the blame game, and others. Much early work examining initiation, intensification, and termination as relatio nal goals simply compiled ad-hoc lists of strategies for redefining relationships without organizing strategies around a theoretical framework. More recent work has suggested that theories of politeness or facework may be applied to foster understanding of how people regard and respond to the relational goals of initiation, intensification, and termination of relationships. (Kunkel, Olufowote, Robson, & Wilson, 2003)Politeness theory is one of the most commonly utilized strategies implemented by individuals in order to enact their desired behaviors from their partners. According to the theory, convincing another person to alter his or her own behavior is inherently face threatening, thus they use politeness strategies to try to balance the competing goals f persuading the other an supporting the other person’s face. But politeness theory falls short in its ability to explain how compliance seekers must contend with multiple potential face threats to both their own and the tar get person’s face.(Krunkel et al, 2003) In an article written by Janet Jacobson on countrysingles. com, their study showed that â€Å"leavers† an â€Å"lefts† have varies coping strategies after breaking up from a relationship. â€Å"Leavers† focuses more on self-enhancement strategies through understanding and improving themselves by spending more of time with friends and families and dates other people. There were however those who become introspective and spends time alone, reflecting on the relationship they had left. (Jacobson, 2004)On one hand, individuals who were left behind focus on self-enhancement. The same with the â€Å"leavers,† â€Å"lefts† spend time with friends and family but they keep themselves more busy with work and/hobbies. They are more likely to change their perspectives on the relationship as much as they try to change their physical appearance to â€Å"look good. † There were also those who bad-mouths former partners and those who become intentionally mean by flirting with their past partners and eventually dumping them off.Avoidance was as well another strategy identified by the respondents of the study upon coping up with breakups. Application of Leadership Concepts When faced with challenge of conflicting timing, my team tried to use the negotiation process to negotiate with our client. We offered incentives like planning activities to entertainment them between their clients dismissal time and the time the youths could come and we focus on meeting their needs which was the lack of transport, by offering to finding alternative transport. My team and I displayed two out of five personalities in the big 5 model during our crisis.They were currency and openness to experience. After our client pulled out, we had high-energy level and determination in finding another organization to work with us. For example, we sourced and called many other organizations. In addition, we were also flexible and intelligent in tweaking our original project and coming up with alternative ideas to solve the problems we were facing. For example changing a day event to a night event because the youths were only able to execute the proje ct in the evening.When coming up with alternative solutions and back-up plans, my team adopted the assuage-receiving process in which we listened to everybody suggestions, analyses them critically and shared honest feedback on the feasibility of each other's ideas. This proved that the team did not group think. Throughout the process, we bared in mind the need to be open to feedbacks and criticisms, which allowed us to be more effective. Although there were functional conflicts during the process, the leader and the rest of the members would act as the mediator where collaboration instead of avoiding, competition and accommodating is encouraged.We are a self-managed team. This is evident when we share and rotate leadership responsibilities in the different areas. For example, some people was in charged of communications with external organization, while others where in charged of administrative matter. My team was generally effective as a group in solving the problem that we faced. There was no social loafing as everyone stepped up and undertook responsibilities when needed to.Members took the initiative to take lead in different areas, which meant that there has to be strong team cohesion and high task interdependence, because each member was responsible of each area they handled and has to be relied upon by other members for overall input. The team also displayed positive interpersonal relationship through support, collaboration, trust, open and honest communication between team members during critics, feedbacks and difficult times.
